ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) is a tough, impact-resistant thermoplastic with a matte, smooth surface. It combines stiffness and impact resistance with very good thermoformability, which makes it one of the most frequently chosen materials for thermoforming, housings and technical parts. Compared to HIPS it is harder and more mechanically resistant, and unlike PMMA or PETG it is not transparent — it is a structural material, not a display one.
ABS sheets draw, hot-bend, mill, drill and glue well, and the surface (smooth or grained) is ready for further processing without additional finishing. Standardly available in black and white, in single- or two-colour versions (for laser engraving of nameplates). The material is suitable for indoor use; for outdoor use UV-stabilised variants or ABS/ASA are recommended.
Processing and cutting to size
We cut ABS to size, CNC-mill it and prepare it for thermoforming. The material is excellent for hot bending and deep drawing, which is used in producing housings, panels and automotive parts. How to choose ABS thickness
Thin sheets (1–3 mm) work well for thermoforming, housings and light elements. Thicker ones (4–10 mm) are used in structural panels, guards and elements exposed to loads. For engraved plates, thin two-colour laminates (0.8–1.6 mm) are used. ABS & HIPS colour chart.
