Clear acrylic, also known as acrylic glass or PMMA, is a material with clarity and gloss exceeding glass, at a much lower weight and better shatter resistance. Compared to polycarbonate, acrylic is harder on the surface, takes diamond polishing to a high gloss better, and costs less, but is more brittle — under impact it cracks, whereas polycarbonate flexes. That's why acrylic is chosen where aesthetics, clarity and ease of processing are the priority, and polycarbonate where impact safety is key.
Clear acrylic transmits up to 92% of light — more than glass — and does not yellow under UV radiation. It is weather-resistant, easy to clean, and suitable for food contact in an appropriately certified version. The material cuts well with a laser, giving a smooth, glossy edge with no extra finishing.

How to choose clear acrylic thickness
Cheaper, thinner sheets (2–3 mm) are enough for covers, frames and small display elements. Medium thicknesses (4–8 mm) are used in showcases, display windows and POS elements. Thicker sheets (10 mm and more) are chosen for aquariums, large glazing and exhibition elements requiring rigidity without supports. Order an acrylic sample.
