Thermoforming acrylic and plastics
Thermoforming gives a plastic sheet a spatial shape — the whole sheet is heated to a pliable state and formed on a mould (mechanically or by vacuum), then permanently holds the 3D form once cooled. PLEXIPOL thermoforms acrylic (PMMA) and PET-G in Warsaw — domes, tubs, guards, housings and spatial parts that linear bending alone can’t produce. Quote based on drawing/model and batch size.
What is thermoforming
Unlike linear bending (a bend along a line), thermoforming shapes the whole sheet surface on a mould. A heated sheet takes the mould’s shape — this is how domes, covers, tubs, machine housings and spatial enclosures are made. Especially cost-effective for batches, since the mould cost spreads across the run.
We form PMMA and PET-G; the grade and temperature depend on geometry and required clarity. For deep forms, even wall thickness distribution matters — we account for this when selecting the starting sheet.
Who it’s for
- Advertising and display manufacturers — covers, protective domes, spatial POS elements.
- Industry and machinery — guards, covers, housings from a single formed part.
- Lighting and design — diffusers, covers, decorative forms.
How the process works
- Enquiry — you send a drawing/model of the shape, required dimensions and planned batch size.
- Mould — we select or produce a mould (mould cost depends on geometry and batch).
- Forming — heating and forming the sheet, trimming excess.
- Finishing and pickup — edge finishing, collect in Warsaw or courier delivery.

Why PLEXIPOL
Operating in Warsaw since 1995 (ul. Puławska 48). We combine thermoforming with cutting, finishing milling and polishing — you get a finished 3D part with machined edges from one place. We advise when thermoforming pays off and when bending or gluing is cheaper.
FAQ
Thermoforming or bending — which one?
Bending for simple linear bends (a stand, a cover). Thermoforming for spatial shapes on a mould (dome, tub, 3D housing).
Do I need a ready-made mould?
No — we select an existing one or make a mould to order. Mould cost is spread across the batch, so the method pays off especially for repeatable parts.
Does thermoformed PMMA stay transparent?
Yes, with the correct heating profile. With deep stretching the thickness thins locally — we account for that when choosing the starting sheet thickness.
