Dibond is an aluminium composite panel (ACM) made of two thin aluminium sheets with a polyethylene (PE) core between them. This construction gives a material that is exceptionally stiff and lightweight at the same time — much stiffer at the same weight than solid plastics such as acrylic or PVC, which makes it the first-choice material for outdoor advertising and large-format signage.
The Dibond surface is smooth, ideal for UV printing and film application, and the aluminium facings are resistant to weather, UV radiation and corrosion — the material needs no additional treatment for outdoor use. Available in colour variants (white, black, raw brushed aluminium) and in individual RAL colours to order.
Processing and cutting to size
We cut Dibond to size on CNC routers, ensuring a clean, straight edge without burrs. The material can be grooved and folded (routing & folding) to create three-dimensional structures, light boxes and housings without joining elements at the corners. It takes direct UV printing and wrapping with advertising film well. UV printing on Dibond.
How to choose Dibond thickness
For advertising boards and signs 3 mm is typically used — a proven compromise of stiffness and price. The thicker 4 mm variant is chosen for larger formats or elements requiring extra stiffness without a supporting frame. For very large advertising surfaces it is worth considering a support structure regardless of sheet thickness. Check the Dibond colour chart.
