Mirror acrylic is acrylic glass (PMMA) with an applied reflective layer, giving a mirror effect at much lower weight and with shatter resistance compared to a traditional glass mirror. It is safer in transport and installation — on impact it does not shatter into sharp shards — which makes it a popular choice in high-traffic places and in commercial applications.
Available in silver (classic mirror effect) as well as gold and coloured (decorative effects) variants. The material retains the typical properties of acrylic — ease of cutting and processing — though the reflective layer requires care during cutting and polishing so as not to damage the coating.
Processing and cutting to size
We cut mirror acrylic to size by laser or mechanically, with adjusted parameters protecting the reflective coating from chipping and edge discolouration. The material works well in engraved elements — a pattern can be engraved through the mirror layer to reveal the clear layer beneath. Milled and polished to size.
How to choose mirror acrylic thickness
For smaller decorative elements and letters 3 mm is enough. Larger panels and wall mirrors require 4–6 mm to keep flatness and mounting stability, especially when glued without a frame. For very large formats it is worth considering additional fixing points to avoid the sheet bowing. Perspex® Mirror colour chart.
