Structural gluing of acrylic
Gluing PMMA parts creates a permanent joint that is almost invisible once cured — solvent adhesive “welds” the material at the joint, while UV adhesives give a strong, colourless bond cured with light. PLEXIPOL carries out structural acrylic gluing in Warsaw: display cases, containers, POS displays, boxes and structures requiring clean, transparent seams. Quote based on construction drawing.
What is acrylic gluing
Acrylic is joined chemically, not “glued” in the everyday sense:
- Solvent adhesive (e.g. dichloromethane-based) — dissolves the contact surface, the parts fuse into one piece; a thin, colourless seam for precise flat joints.
- UV / light-cured adhesive — fills the joint and hardens under a UV lamp; a strong, transparent bond, good for uneven joints and larger surfaces.
Adhesive choice depends on the construction, loads and aesthetic requirements. An alternative to gluing is bending — a bent part from a single sheet is stronger and has no visible seam, where geometry allows.
Who it’s for
- Manufacturers of display cases, containers, boxes, displays — clean, transparent seams.
- Advertising and POS — acrylic structures, stands, dispensers.
- Industry — guards and housings from joined parts.
How the process works
- Enquiry and drawing — send a construction drawing with dimensions and joining method.
- Technology choice — solvent or UV adhesive, depending on construction and loads.
- Preparation and gluing — cutting/polishing parts, gluing, curing.
- Pickup/shipping — collect in Warsaw or courier delivery.

Why PLEXIPOL
Operating in Warsaw since 1995 (ul. Puławska 48). We combine gluing with cutting, polishing and bending — the whole structure is made in one place, with fitted and polished contact edges, giving a cleaner seam. We advise whether gluing or bending from a single sheet is cheaper and stronger.
FAQ
Is glued acrylic durable?
Yes — a solvent seam “welds” the material, giving a joint close in strength to solid PMMA. UV adhesive gives a strong, transparent bond for larger surfaces.
Is the seam visible?
A properly made solvent seam is almost invisible. For uneven joints or loads, UV adhesive is used, which fills the gap.
Gluing or bending?
Where geometry allows, bending from a single sheet is stronger and has no visible seam. Gluing is used where bending isn’t enough (closed boxes, joining multiple walls).
